Since before we were even born, they loved us unconditionally. 

They soothed our first cries. Taught us our first words. Healed our first cut.  

And to me, she was my first and most important role model: my mom.  

My mom’s example of compassion, strength, and selflessness continues to guide me today. 

I wouldn’t be the person I am without my mother. 

And I’m sure you have similar feelings about yours. 

When we experience life's joys, we share them with our mothers, our biggest cheerleaders. 

When we go through a difficult time, we cry in their arms and seek their comfort. 

When we experience loss, we go to them for solace and hope. 

And when we think there’s no way forward, they give us the push we need to keep going. 

Moms are irreplaceable and essential. 

After all, it was through a mother’s love that Chicanos Por La Causa came together to provide and stand up for our community—thanks to the incredible work of Terri Cruz, Rosie Lopez, Guadalupe Huerta, and countless other CPLC matriarchs. 

So let’s celebrate the incredible mothers in our community. They are women who, despite all the struggles they endured, never gave up. 

We wouldn’t be here without their generous love, hard work, and continuous support. 

To all the mothers in our community, thank you for everything you do.
