CPLC Board Chair
2024-12-23
I wrote to you for the first time almost two years ago.
You can find that letter about my experience growing up as an immigrant here on page 3.
I still remember the warm reception you gave me—and all the heartfelt responses to my story. Thank you for welcoming me and taking me in as part of your Familia.
Today, I’m writing for the last time as CPLC Board Chair.
As my term comes to an end, I am grateful for the time we spent together, advocating for and empowering individuals and families in our community.
I will forever cherish the memories:
Giving back to teachers at our Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards
Honoring icons and advocates like John Leguizamo and Pati Jinich at our Anniversary Celebrations
Raising scholarship funds for Arizona college students at our CPLC Scholarship Golf Tournaments
And though my term is coming to an end, I know my mission to give voice to the voiceless is not over.
If anything, the past two years have reaffirmed my dream and inspired me to keep working for our community—even as I step down from this role.
There are so many ways to stay involved. One that I always add to my holiday list is to give back through monetary donations. This provides our programs the flexibility to apply funds to the areas of greatest need.
For example, your donation could help us purchase new shoes or a laptop for a child staying at our CPLC De Colores Domestic Violence Shelter, allowing him to stay up to date on his homework.
Your support can also help:
A migrant farm worker feed her children without having to skip another meal
A father keep the A/C on amid soaring temperatures
A young woman learn about responsible homeownership and access down payment assistance so she can buy her first home
There are so many ways we can change a life in our community. And it starts with your support.
It starts with one person believing it’s possible. Like my first Latina teacher in high school, who saw my potential and invested her time and effort in me.
So for the last time, I invite you to consider making a gift this holiday season.
CPLC once helped my aunt buy her first home. Today, I am proud to give back to an organization that gave my family so much.
Thank you for all your support!
