A Night with CPLC in California

Since 1969, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) has been a force for change across the Southwest. Over six decades, we've built dozens of programs that help communities thrive at every stage of life: educating children, housing seniors and foster youth, healing trauma through behavioral health counseling, sheltering people experiencing homelessness, standing with victims of domestic violence, and opening doors to economic opportunity.

In 2019, we brought that mission to California. Our CDFI, Prestamos, led the way, using tools like New Markets Tax Credits and SBA loan guarantees to extend credit to businesses too often overlooked and we soon added refugee resettlement and COVID relief.

Our reach grew when Amanecer Community Counseling Service joined our familia in 2024, bringing deep expertise in behavioral health, followed by Shelter Partnership in 2025, with decades of experience addressing homelessness in Los Angeles County by distributing millions of dollars of merchandise each year.

Homelessness Resources

Shelter Partnership has distributed over $6 million of goods to a network of 180 agencies supporting those experiencing homelessness in LA County and beyond since July 1, 2025.

Mental Health Services

Amanecer served 965 clients during the 2024-2025 year in its Trauma Recovery Centers, Behavioral Health Clinics for Children and Adults, and Domestic Violence Counseling program.

We need your support now more than ever.

Over the past year, federal funding for mental health has decreased. The funding landscape for homeless sevices has also shifted signigantly as federal and local funding sources changed thier approaches.

Unfortunately, local donors are not aware of this gap and have decreased donations to nonprofits.

We need your support to address the loss of federal funding and the drop in individual donations.
