Help Nominate a Teacher in Your School to Win the Esperanza Latino Teacher Award and a Cash Prize

11th Sep 2019

In anticipation of the next generation of outstanding Latino teachers in Arizona, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) is receiving nominations for their 21st Annual Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards. This unique event is presented by Cox Communications and SRP in collaboration with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.

After a statewide search, four winning teachers will be selected and honored at a special awards ceremony on October 23rd at ASU Gammage Auditorium. CPLC will present a $5,000 cash award to each honoree along with a stipend of $2,500 to their respective schools.

CPLC recognizes the importance of a quality education and believes it is crucial that everyone has the opportunity of obtaining a solid foundation that an education provides. We believe that teachers are at the forefront of providing this lasting impact in and out of the classroom. This is why CPLC has recognized more than 100 leading Latino educators since 1998.

Nominees for this year’s awards must meet the following criteria:

  • Inspire students of all backgrounds to learn
  • Play an active role in their school and community
  • Spend the majority of each school day in the classroom
  • Possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Teach at a state-approved or accredited school in Arizona

Nominations from across the state must be received before 5 p.m. on September 20th, 2019. Forms may be downloaded here and submitted (along with a letter of recommendation from the school’s principal) to Events@CPLC.org or:
