CPLC Helps Families Keep the Lights On

CPLC partnered with APS to provide utility bill assistance for low-income families. AZ Central recently featured our program:

"When you're in need, you don't have the time to figure out all the places to go for help," said Lydia Martinez, of Chicanos Por La Causa. "When someone comes in at their wit's end, we can help you. We can figure out: How do we get you back on your feet?"

But there are plenty of hopeful stories.

Last year, Chicanos Por La Causa helped close to 2,000 families avoid a power shut-off, Martinez said.

Grown men have come into her office crying and left with a plan, she said.
