CPLC Announces Exhibit Showing at Mesa Community College

CPLC is excited to announce the continuation of our 50th Anniversary event series!

Join us on September 13th for the opening of Here We Stand, our historic photo exhibit, at Mesa Community College featuring a panel discussion and excerpts from our 50th anniversary documentary. The event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be provided.

Here We Stand tells the little-known story of Arizona's vibrant Mexican-American population, which played an integral role in the founding and development of Phoenix and Arizona at large. The exhibit is also available in an expanded version as a commemorative book available for purchase at cplc.org/herewestand. The book will be on sale for a discounted price at the event.

The featured panelists will include:

  • Dr. Pete Dimas — Emeritus Professor of History and Chicana/o Studies and Director of Southwest Studies, Phoenix College; Exhibit Curator
  • Deanna Villanueva-Saucedo — Public Outreach, Mesa Community Colleges
  • Phil Austin — President, East Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • Max Gonzales — Executive Vice President, Chicanos Por La Causa
  • a student leader from M.E.C.H.A. de MCC

The exhibit will run at MCC from September 13-20 and will be open from 8am-5pm.

The event is made possible by M.E.C.H.A. de MCC, Mesa Community College, and Maricopa Community Colleges.
