Workforce Development Center

CPLC Workforce Development Center (WDC) has been in operation for 30 years, its mission is to strengthen the local workforce and help constituents improve their quality of life.   This is accomplished by helping individuals who are unemployed or underemployed find gainful employment. The WDC highly motivated bi-lingual staff help customers with all aspects of obtaining and keeping a job. Program staff works closely with local employers to ensure they fulfill their hiring needs, which provides great employment opportunities for the many participants who seek employment assistance.

The WDC serves people in need of various services including General Adult Education classes (GED), occupational training, job placements assistance and support services.  The WDC resource room provides our customers access to Internet ready computers, current job listings, job fair information, fax machine, telephone and resume writing assistance. In addition to the self-service aspect of the operation, the WDC also has a strong network of employers, who utilize the services of the WDC to recruit employees.

The WDC offers a program that revolves around education, employment and training. The W.I.A.-Aspire Youth Program, provided by CPLC serves in and out-of –school youth ages 14-21 living in the East Valley including Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, and Guadalupe. Through this program WDC provides year-round youth development services. The intent of the program is to assist youth in successfully achieving their educational and job goals. The program will assist and encourage youth to return to school. CPLC works with all high schools, alternative schools and charter schools.

CPLC WDC also serves adjudicated (ex-offender) youth and adults living in Metropolitan Phoenix and surrounding cities. The program provides year-round youth and adults’ development services such as, work readiness and work experience through a kaleidoscope of service and activities including case management and evidence based curriculum.

Along with providing computers for individuals to utilize in their job search CPLC provides free basic computer literacy classes through its Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).  The WDC BTOP Instructor will provide instruction in English and Spanish as well as a micro-enterprise class for small business owners.

For more information on any of these services please contact or visit the CPLC WDC program at the address or phone number listed below.
